Do you know which city was called in the ancient times Constantinople and has a history which dates back 3000 years? Makes this city one of the oldest existing cities in the world and I’m sure you know what I’m talking about (not only from the topic :D)… It’s the most popular city of Turkey: Istanbul! It’s the centre of culture, commerce, finance and media. Istanbul stretches along the north shore of the Marmara Sea and is located on both sides of the Bosporus. Thus, it’s the only metropolis in the world that is located on two continents, Europe and Asia.
And with approximately 14.6 million inhabitants (in 2013) Istanbul is the second-largest city in Europe right after Moscow.

I have found you an opportunity to spend 10 nights in January 2015 in Istanbul here on expedia.co.uk. The deal includes your stay in the excellent 3 star Lemon Residence (95% on TripAdvisor) which has been awarded with the Certificate of Excellence 2014 and the flights from London Stansted to Sabi̇ha Gokcen International Airport for only £240 per person based on 2 people sharing. The accommodation is close to the Taksim Square and provides you not only a perfect location for a long city break, but decent apartments to stay in. The apartments feature kitchenettes, free wireless Internet and sofa beds. It’s easy to make yourself home at the Lemon Residence and for a surcharge you can have a daily breakfast served in the room.

Your location is only 300 metres from the bustling Istiklal Avenue and the Taksim Square and Taksim Metro Station are only a 4-minute walk away. Take this chance and visit for example, the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, also known as the ‘Blue Mosque‘! It’s one of the most important sights of the city, the biggest Islamic house of worship in Istanbul and next to two other interesting mosques.
Definitely don’t miss to marvel at the Hagia Sophia, which was built as a former Byzantine church and converted, after the fall of the Byzantine Empire, into a museum! It’s besides the Blue Mosque probably the most famous building in Istanbul. I wish you a wonderful time in this exciting city!

FYI: The Lemon Residence is located close to the Ataturk Airport, but it’s cheaper to fly to the Sabi̇ha Gokcen International Airport. There are public transports to the accommodation, but the easiest and fastest way is by taxi for around £14. It takes you around 45 mins from the Sabi̇ha Gokcen International Airport to the Lemon Residence by taxi.
