The Tuscany is a beautiful area and really a great destination for a short city break. Especially the city Pisa is besides Florence one of the most famous and popular cities in Tuscany. But that’s not only because of the Leaning Tower of Pisa: the city enchants its visitors with its compelling charm. I fell directly in love with this city during my short break in Pisa :)
With you can book your city break to Pisa incl. hotel and flights for only £144 per person. You stay in the 3 star Airone Pisa Park Hotel (78% on TripAdvisor + Certificate of Excellence) which is located between Pisa and Lucca in the San Guiliana Terme district. It’s famous for its thermal bath and health treatments. So you stay close to the city centre of Pisa (about 10 minutes bus drive) and far away from noises. The hotel lies amidst sunflowers and mountains and offers a nice surrounding for nice strolls. It has also an outdoor pool if you need some relaxation after your day trips.
As the location is great for both cities Pisa and Lucca I recommend you to explore both of them. Lucca is one of the prettiest town that I know in Italy and the cathedral Duomo di San Martino is the most famous attraction here in Lucca. Definitely go to the Piazza dell’ Anfiteatro where you’ll find the ancient remains of a Roman Forum. But honestly I spend most of the time at the main shopping street in Lucca which is the Via Fillungo… here are so many seductive shops to spend your money! I know what I’m talking about and good that I didn’t pay so much for the travel :) Another tip that I have for you is to rent a bike and to go to the ancient walls of Lucca. The views of the city are wonderful!
Well, I’m writing that much about Lucca, but this city break should be more about Pisa right? Of course you can’t do a break in Pisa without seeing at least once the Leaning Tower of Pisa and taking funny pictures of it. Try an angle with you trying to ‘hold’ the tower… I know that sounds cheesy, but such pictures are awesome. The tower stands on the Cathedral Square in Pisa and around it there are many other great buildings lined up like the Baptistery and the Campo Santo cemetery. Simply enjoy this twin centre city break as much as I did :)
