Riga is fast becoming one of the most talked about cities in Europe. As people get more adventurous, the trends of travel change and Riga is face becoming one of the places to go on holiday for a cultural and intriguing experience. She isn’t called the Queen of the Baltic for nothing!

This deal is available to you through travelbird.co.uk for only £79 per person! Included in that price is your stay in the 4* Hotel, your Flights and Breakfast for both days. It is worth noting that there are various dates available to you for this trip, from two different airports, but the prices do vary depending on the time of year.

Riga – the Queen of the Baltic

You will be staying in the 4* Wellton Terrace Design Hotel which is situated in the middle of Riga, with easy connections to everything you might want to see. The hotel also received a TripAdvisor rating of 74%. This hotel also serves you breakfast, so you won’t have to worry about finding somewhere to eat in the mornings, which will help you relax and give you a chance to plan your attack on the city.

Whilst you’re there you won’t be short of things to do! There are so many brilliant sites to be seen that you won’t know which to prioritise. I would recommend walking around the centre, to get your bearings and to really appreciate why the centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site!

The Riga Central Market is a really interesting place to go, the shopping is a natural plus, but I like it because it really shows you the old traditions and practices of Latvian life. Don’t worry if you get a bit lost, the locals are really helpful and will happily help you find your way between the various pavilions.

There are the other must-sees such as the Swedish Gate, Riga Cathedral and St. John’s Church, however I would definitely recommend seeing some of the lesser known things. One of the places I like is Gauja National Park, it’s completely different to other parks that you will see around Europe and is a really tranquil place to be.

For food there are countless restaurants in Riga. Depending on your budget I would recommend two different places. If you had a bit more spare cash,  going to Vincents is a really good option for you. It has recently become a celebrity hangout in Riga and the food is really good! If you had a bit less money going around I would suggest Mazie Balti Krekli, which is a traditional Latvian restaurant and a real experience. If you’re looking to have some fun during your time there, this is the place for you, with music and a great atmosphere it’s hard to beat!

Riga is a fun, vibrant and entertaining city that should be on everybody’s bucket list but hasn’t quite made it yet. It’s full of history, beautiful buildings and some really great food. This city break will definitely not be one you forget easily.
