Route 66 is possibly the most iconic road trip route in the world. Famously connecting a large number of the USA’s best known cities to one another, it seems only logical to drive along as much as possible whilst you’re there.

Route 66 Road Trip

The deal I have found you is available on travelbird.co.uk for only £1,269 per person. This includes your 13 Nights in Hotels, Flights from London Heathrow, Car Hire for the duration of the stay (wouldn’t be much of a road trip without a car would it?), your tourist tax and luggage! So you’ll have everything you could need; a bed and a method of transport.

It’s worth noting that you’ll be flying into Chicago airport but that you will be flying back from Los Angeles Airport instead- which makes your life easier and a lot less driving filled!

Your first stop is Chicago, where you’ll land and be able to head to your hotel, MileNorth Chicago Hotel, which has received an excellent TripAdvisor rating of 4.5/5 as well as being awarded a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for 2014. You’re hotel is really well located to allow you to explore all of the main attractions like Navy Pier and the waterfront to Lake Michigan.

You’ll then drive to St Louis, where you’ll be staying in the Omni Majestic Hotel, which has received a TripAdvisor rating of 4/5 as well as being awarded a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for 2014. This is a city famous for jazz, blues and The Cardinals – one of the “ever good” baseball teams in America. So you’ll have a great chance to explore whilst you’re here.

Day three will see you heading to Springfield, which is known as the birthplace of Route 66, so on this tour it’s an absolute must. You will be staying in the BEST WESTERN Coach House, which has received a good TripAdvisor rating of 4.5/5 as well as being awarded a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for 2014.

Day four is Oklahoma City, which is literally how you would imagine a typical “cowboy” city to be in the modern day… it’s really good fun, and there are plenty of bars with swinging doors to keep you happy ;) Here you’ll be staying in the BEST WESTERN Barsana, which has received a TripAdvisor rating of 4/5 as well as  being awarded a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for 2014.

Is this the way to Amarillo? Have you been weeping like a willow? Well actually, in this case.. this is the way, and actually it’s the next stop! This is home to the Palo Duro Canyon State Park.. so you’re basically guaranteed a beautiful day here. Here you’ll be staying in the Comfort Inn & Suites, which has received a TripAdvisor rating of 4/5.

The following day is your trip to Albuquerque. One the way to there you’ll find excellent views of mountain peaks as well as monuments, Native American pueblos and you’ll even have the chance to visit some of the older communities of New Mexico. Just in case you were wondering, yes.. this is where Breaking Bad was set.. and yes, you can go and visit a number of the filming locations. Here you’ll stay in the Hilton Garden Inn, which has received a TripAdvisor rating of 4.5/5 as well as being awarded a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for 2014.

The next couple of days will be spent in Flagstaff, where you’ll be able to enjoy the laid-back atmosphere of the town and the stunning back drop of mountains. If you fancied it, I would definitely recommend trying some rock climbing! Mount Elden is the perfect place for you to get some of the best views around! Here you’ll spend two nights in the Little America Hotel, which has received a TripAdvisor Rating of 4.5/5 as well as being awarded a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for 2014.

Vivaaa Las Vegas… yep, Vegas is the next stop on your list. You’ll actually be here for three nights, so you’ll have a chance to stop driving and maybe let loose a little bit. Go out, appreciate the neon signs, gamble a bit of money and just enjoy it… just make sure you don’t marry somebody you’ve only just met, what happens in Vegas… has to go home with you ;) Here you’ll be staying in Bally’s Las Vegas, which has received a good TripAdvisor Rating of 4/5.

The final stop on your journey is Los Angeles. You’ll spend the final two days of your trip here, so you’ll be able to have a look around properly. Stroll along Sunset Boulevard, play spot the celebrity and explore all of the different areas around! Here you’ll be staying in Buena Park, which is always a cool place to stay, in Knott’s Berry Farm Resort Hotel, which has received a TripAdvisor Rating of 3.5/5.

This is the perfect way for you to go and see America. It’s good fun, it’s a great way to get away for a couple of weeks… and it is the perfect excuse to stock up on various flavours of beef jerky, wholefoods brownies and to get out the road trip CD.
