Shanghai, a renowned international metropolis which is situated on the Yangtze River. It is one of the most influential trade and technological centres for China and has made itself a name in the tourist industry. Here’s your chance to see what all of the fuss is about.

You will be staying in the Jinjiang Inn, which has received a TripAdvisor rating of 83%. If you wanted to go around a see some local attractions, you’re located perfectly, being in close proximity to the Circus World Shanghai and Jade Buddha Temple.

This deal is available to you through expedia.co.uk for only £575 per person. This, impressively, includes both your flights and your hotel. Considering that flights to Shanghai are normally significantly more than this, it’s a really good deal!

Whilst you’re in Shanghai I would recommend doing as much as you can, you haven’t travelled all that way just to mooch around. I would suggest going to The Bund which is a symbol that is the epitome of the modern history of Shanghai, it helps give you a bit more of an understanding of its development. I also really like the Old French Concession which is a residential area of Shanghai that was once a French-only zone of the city. It has some really good cafes and is actually one of the prettier areas in Shanghai.

You should also definitely head to the Yugarden (Garden of Contentment) which is a really classic-style garden, which was created in 1577. It’s a really beautiful place to walk around and is a nice, contrasting and tranquil area in the centre of the chaotic city.

As for food, you won’t struggle to find anywhere to eat. However, I would like to make a few suggestions. I would suggest heading to Ultraviolet by Paul Pairet if you have the chance. It’s not a cheap experience, but it is absolutely worth it. It has also been voted the best restaurant in Shanghai on TripAdvsior. If you wanted to try something a little bit more traditional than this, you could go to Ding Tai Fung which is a really cool street-food-esque place to get food. It’s quick, it’s easy and it’s local! Definitely worth trying either one of these.

This is the perfect opportunity for you to broaden your horizons and finally go somewhere further away. It’s the chance to experience an entirely different culture, discover a metropolis on the other side of the world and immerse yourself into a lifestyle that we have nothing to equate to.
