Stockholm in summer is something special. Visiting the Swedish capital when it’s in full bloom can be very inspiring and you can easily explore the city’s 14 islands by foot without freezing… So look forward to this great city break that I have created for you with the help of Travelbird.co.uk and bravofly.co.uk.

Fly from London Gatwick to Stockholm Arlanda. The flights that I have chosen are for July and the flight times allow you to spend 3 full days in Stockholm. You arrive in the morning and depart in the late evening. But really feel free to change the dates like you want them to and create your own special trip :)  From the airport it’s only another half an hour by bus and you are at the hotel in Solna, which is North of the city centre. You will stay at the 4 star Ibis Styles Stockholm Järva Hotel (78% on TripAdvisor) which has won the Traveller’s Choice Award 2014. Breakfast is included and you get to stay in their modernly designed rooms.

Since you are very close to Ulriksdal Station you can be in the centre within 10 minutes. The Royal Park as well as Ulriksdal and Haga Palace are all close to the hotel and walkable. Definitely visit the Old Town which is located on the island of Gamla Stan. There you find the Kungliga Slottet, the royal palace which is a beautiful building. The Old Town has many little and picturesque alleys, amongst them the narrowest one in Sweden. Make sure you don’t pass by it by accident. In Gamla Stan you will also be able to buy loads of typically Swedish souvenirs like the famous Arla Horse. If you’re interested in the Viking past of Scandinavia and want to know more about the people that have had such a big impact on our country then pay Vasa Museum a visit. The highlight there is the real-sized Viking war ship that you find in the centre of the museum. Great for the old and young :) For a bit of relaxing, a nice cuppa coffee or maybe dinner you can visit Södermalm. It’s the trendy area of Stockholm with great bars and restaurants. There you also find the hipster “Love Food Cafe”, which serves great quality artisan sandwiches and burgers that you can combine with their home-made salads. A nice place to fuel up you energy level on your city break to Stockholm.
