Zante is another one of those places that everybody wants to go to. Situated just off the coast of Greece, it’s weather in October is some of the best in Europe, rarely dropping below 20 degrees Celsius. The deal that I’ve found through thomson.co.uk is an absolute bargain, costing only £194 per person for a two week holiday!

Zante is possibly the most photographed of the Ionian islands, mainly because its beaches are so famous. For example, there is Navagio, possibly better known as “the shipwreck beach” which is famously only accessible by boat, and of course has a shipwreck on the beach. If you are going to visit this beach I would recommend going in the afternoon because it’s on the north-western side of the island and therefore doesn’t get that much sun before midday. The island of Zante has many beautiful attractions for tourists, however, they are all fairly spread out, so you might want to look into renting a car!

Beautiful Family Break in Zante at the Alykanas Village Hotel

You will be staying in the Alykanas Village Hotel, which is a newly built facility to the North of the island. It is a self-catering establishment, making it easier for you to develop your own schedule and take your time when you’re out and about. It received 4/5 on TripAdvisor as well as a Certificate of Excellence for 2014! You could potentially stop off in Zante village, which has some traditional Venetian architecture remaining. As well as this it has some really cute café’s where you could stop for lunch or dinner. If you fancy a quieter day, then you could stay in the village and relax by the pool. If you want to go to the beach, it’s easily done at whatever time of day, with the hotel being located almost directly on the beach!

Outside of this, there is plenty that you can do on the island of Zante! You could, for example, take a day trip and go on the Turtle Island Cruise or maybe go to the Blue Caves. If you do decide to go to the blue caves then I would recommend renting your own boat, or going on a smaller tour, because the bigger tours don’t go into the caves and also don’t let you get out and swim in them. Being inside the caves is the best part and people at your hotel will be able to recommend companies which can do this for you! thomson.co.uk do offer their own versions of all of these excursions, so if you want it to be easy and keep it simple then you could book it all through them!

So why not treat yourselves to an Autumn break that is the perfect way to unwind, just the right amount of time after Summer to give you time to settle back down, for the kids to be happily at school, but long enough away that you will definitely feel like the break was worth while!
