Thailand is the most popular tourist destination in South-East Asia – and with good reason! Lush rainforests, impressive ruins, gorgeous beaches and clear, warm seas all come together perfectly to create a heavenly holiday destination. One region in Thailand is the most popular of all, and it’s long been a household name amongst travellers looking for a far-flung travellers. You’ve guessed it – we’re talking about Phuket! Phuket has everything you could ever need for a perfect holiday, and despite raid development spurred on by tourism the island has managed to retain its gorgeous nature and original character.
If you’re planning a holiday to Phuket, or just stopping off there for a few days during a trip across the region, then take a look at these hotels I’ve found! You’ll be very pleased to hear that despite the island’s popularity there’s plenty of reasonably priced hotels and resorts, and you’ll often get a lot for your money. If you’re looking for a bit of luxury you won’t be disappointed either – there are some hotels here that really will leave you speechless! So, take a look and get planning!
5 gorgeous Hotels in Thailand, Phuket to beat the January blues!
Thavorn Beach Village & Spa
You don’t always have to fork out astronomical amounts of money to stay in a good hotel! Our first stop is the Thavorn Beach Village & Spa (4/5 on TripAdvisor) a great alternative to the more pricey luxury resorts. Located right on the beach front, this beautiful hotel is nestled amongst the trees and boasts great views across the sea from its fancy hilltop villas. It boasts one of South-Est Asia’s largest freeform pools, and you’ll also have direct access to the private Nakalay Beach where you can go for a romantic dinner and try authentic Thai cuisine, or indulge in a massage in the nearby spa. If you’ve booked one of the hilltop villas there’s a cable car that will take you up and down the hill! The international airport on Phuket is around 30 minutes away by car and Patong Beach is just a short hop away by taxi.
Mandarava Resort & Spa
Another reasonably priced hotel, the Mandarava Resort & Spa has all the mod cons: 3 stylish swimming pools (plus a pool bar!), modern gym facilities, a games room, and even a range of activities including yoga and Thai cooking courses to keep yourself occupied with. It’s got everything you need for a stylish, relaxing holiday! That’s why it received and excellent rating of 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor and a Certificate of Excellence.
You can pamper yourself for hours on end at the Cheeva Spa, located at the top of the hill, which also boasts an outdoor Jacuzzi and some gorgeous gardens. The resort is in a great location, with Karon Beach just a 20 minute walk away. There’s also a beautiful Buddhist temple in the village that hosts a market on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The hotel can arrange a shuttle to and from the airport for a fee, a journey which takes around 40 minutes.
Ayara Hilltops Boutique Resort & Spa
Here’s where things start to get really luxurious. The beauty of Phuket is that there really is a hotel for every budget, whether you’re a backpacker on a shoestring or looking to splash the cash on something a little more opulent. Ayara Hilltops is a perfect example of the luxury hidden away in the rainforests. With breathtaking views across Surin Beach, these spacious, modern villas are designed in such a way that you can make the most of the views. Pool Villas come with a stunning infinity pool, and Super Deluxe Suites boast a whirlpool in a private terrace. There’s everything from a spa, gym, swimming pool to a poolside bar and restaurant, and the resort can even help you with arranging tours and excursions should you fancy exploring Phuket. If you want to soak up the sun on Surin Beach you can either walk there (which is only 5 minutes away!) or go for a free ride on one of the hotel’s songthaew! The resort has also won the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence. The international airport is around 20 minutes away, with airport transfers able to be arranged in advance.
Indigo Pearl is another luxurious 5* resort that’s filled to the brim with features (4.5/5 on TripAdvisor + Certificate of Excellence). As well as 2 infinity pools and a family pool, guests can also enjoy yoga and pilates classes, Muay Thai and all kinds of outdoor activities including water sports and cycling trips. However the highlight of the resort by far is the stunning spa! The Coqoon Spa looks like a bird’s nest perched safely up in the trees, so you can enjoy the seclusion and peace as you indulge in a lavish massage or treatment. They can even tailor a complete personal spa experience for you. Diving is also on offer here with the Nai Yang Sea Bees Dive Centre – whether you’re just starting out or a veteran diver the diving school caters to all levels, and you can choose where you’d like to dive once you’ve gone for a test dive in the centre’s diving pools. The resort is just a short hop away from the airport so you can put your feet up almost immediately after you arrive!
This super luxury resort recently opened its doors in December 2015, but has already caused quite a stir in the hotel industry thanks to its breathtaking and innovative architecture that was inspired by traditional Phuket mythology. The interiors combine both tribal design with natural elements – it’s safe to say that Keemala is by far the most beautiful resort on the island! There are 4 different types of villas to stay in, ranging from fancy tents, clay cottages with thatched roofs and even tree houses and bird nests! The resort is designed with nature in mind, blending in with the surrounding flora seamlessly and with the gorgeous pools, small streams and ‘Meditation Bridge’ you can reflect on the peaceful atmosphere. Keemala also has a large focus on well-being, with areas set aside for yoga and meditation and an extensive range of spa treatments. If you want a break from the relaxation you can always head to Phuket Town, or go on a short hop to the near-by Kamala Beach. With a private airport transfer service you’ll be at the hotel within 50 minutes.
This is only just a very very small selection of what’s in store for you on Phuket, but it should give you an idea of the range and diversity of the resorts on offer. That’s what makes Phuket great – you don’t ever have to worry about being able to find something you’ll be able to afford, as even backpackers or trekkers on the tightest of budgets will find the perfect place to spend the night.
