As some of you might already know, I have been to Amsterdam couple of days ago and of course I had to sleep somewhere. So I followed my inspiration and decided to stay at the 4-star Westcord Art Hotel Amsterdam. I wanted to check with my own eyes the excellent rating this hotel has on TripAdvisor and these are my experiences I had there, so sit back and enjoy :)

Surround by art – Location of the 4* WestCord Art Hotel Amsterdam

One of the most important reasons to choose a hotel is of course its rating on various platforms and reading through the comments of former guests.
But for me the location is probably as important as the opinion of its guests. The Westcord Art Hotel Amsterdam is in the city quarter Westpark, on the border of Spaarndammerbuurt. The area makes an ideal place for some leisurely strolls as it’s located in an area rich in Amsterdam School Architecture.
The centre of Amsterdam is only 10 minutes by public transport away and it takes you only a walk of around 15 minutes to get to the tram. Your Holidayguru walks quite gently through the streets, so if you’re making bigger steps than me, then it takes you probably less time to go to the tram station :)

Gurutastic-tip incoming: the friendly hotel staff provides you a 24-hours or 48-hours card from GVB that you can use to travel by the public transports. It counts down the time from your first check-in and you can buy those cards directly at the hotel’s reception. I bought a 48-hours card for €12 (around £9) which is for me a good price to use it as much as I wanted to.
Oh and by the way: every time you enter a public transport in Amsterdam you need to check-in AND to check-out with your card. Make sure not to forget it :)

The hotel rooms are categorised in 3-star rooms and 4-star rooms. The 3-star rooms are the standard rooms with all basics that you need. The 4-star rooms come along with some luxurious features like bathrooms with two shower heads, bath tubs and a Nespresso coffee machine that turned out to be a great lifesaver after a funny night out in Amsterdam :)

Your Holidayguru had the chance to see the rooms of each category and I have to say, all of them were very clean and have a high modern standard. There is one room that took immediately my fancy: it’s the ‘Silk Room‘! This room is perfect for honeymooners as it boasts a huge jacuzzi, cosy little lights on the ceiling and on the wall of the bedroom. The bed is surround by many mirrors and there is a walk-in wardrobe! Girls’ haven!  :)

Guru-Tip: it’s always worth to fill in the comments during your bookings! That’s the way how you can kindly ask if you can upgrade to a suite if you’re for example on your honeymoon. The hotel staff of the WestCord Art Hotel is very friendly and it reacts to the comments the guests give them :)

Some of the 4-star rooms have big windows offering some great views over a pool…

Wait… A pool?

Yes, the WestCord Art Hotel boasts a pool right in front of their Art Brasserie where you can enjoy your breakfast, lunch and dinner. The pool is not a private pool, but it’s a public pool that is free to use as a hotel guest. And you don’t need to queue up like all the others :) The pool is only open during the warmer months, so have a look at the opening times of it.

Service and Conclusion – An exciting & inspiring stay

I have stayed in one of the 4-star rooms and I really have to say that the hotel deserves it’s great rating of 4/5 on TripAdvisor. The location is a bit outside of the centre of Amsterdam, but still very good to access the city centre. For me, the location is ideal to reach the city centre, enjoying the bustling nightlife and then to return to a quiet place that provides a great sleep. In my opinion most hotels that are situated directly in the city centre have to deal with noisy surroundings. That’s not going to happen here!

Furthermore I really liked that the hotel is inspired by the art of Herman Brood. His paintings are very interesting and they give the hotel that something special.

I also liked the fact that the WestCord Art Hotel Amsterdam has an access to a public pool right on its doorstep, which is free to use for its guests. Not many hotels in a city can brag about an outdoor pool like this one and this adds even more value to the hotel.

Another fact that I would like to point out is the outstanding and friendly service of the hotel staff.  No matter what I was asking the staff was always happy to help and the employees try to come up with all your expectations.

So all in all, I was glad to stay at the WestCord Art Hotel. It provides a very good quality for the price, a great location, an extraordinary style and it has a nice staff. What else can you ask for, right? :)
