London is sexy, London is hip, and London is in many respects an absolute trend setter. Now the English capital is surprising everyone with a real highlight: the world’s first ever Sky Pool. There aren’t so many of these here – after all the city isn’t exactly known for its hundreds of hours of sunshine during the year. Instead you’ll more than likely be observing all the different kinds of wellies the locals wear as they stroll through the rainy streets. That’ll soon be a thing of the past though, because in a few months the Sky Pool is going to be one of the coolest pools in the world. The glass walk on Tower Bridge and the London Eye can sling their hooks – London has a new eye-catcher.

Mega Sky Pool in London planned

The Sky Pool is still a pure fantasy, because the buildings it’s meant to run between still need to be built in the first place. Right next to the US embassy in Nine Elms a residential and office complex is being developed which, according to the property developers, has an ‘American touch’ and will evoke large cities like Boston and New York. Residents can casually swim their lengths right here.

Those who want to secure a place in the Sky Pool once the construction is finished will have to pay through the nose: the 3-room apartments will cost around £2 million. It’s not really surprising when you take the excellent location into consideration though – the 2,000 properties are directly by the Thames and the city centre is just a few Tube stations away. There’s also an indoor pool, an relaxation area and a home cinema for the residents – pure luxury! Standing on the building’s roof terrace will give you a fantastic view of the London Eye, the Shard, Westminster and the Houses of Parliament. Sightseeing at its best – every single day.

Sky Pool is unique in the world

Sean Mulryan, the CEO of construction company Ballymore Group, is convinced of his project. “My vision for the Sky Pool stemmed from a desire to push the boundaries in the capability of construction and engineering,” said Mulryan. “I wanted to do something that had never been done before. The Sky Pool’s transparent structure is the result of significant advancements in technologies over the last decade. The experience of the pool will be truly unique; it will feel like floating through the air in central London” He’s clearly succeeded in creating something special, because even before the Sky Pool was finalised it was thrilling the media from all over the world. Eventually pool goers will swim away above the heads of passers-by beneath. Nude bathing is definitely not allowed here – if only to avoid causing accidents on the street below.

Definitely put the Sky Pool on the list of things in London you absolutely must see, because in summer the view will be a sightseeing magnet, that I can promise you. By the way, swimming is only allowed for residents and perhaps even the guests of the planned hotel. I’ll definitely be looking for a deal in this hotel in the future, that’s for sure!
