Hard Rock’s come a long way, baby! Its origins are humble, with the first ever Hard Rock Café opening in London in 1971 on the site of a former Rolls Royce dealership. Since then it’s grown into a real cult, with branches in every corner of the globe and a die-hard following that go wild for the memorabilia. It doesn’t stop just there though – the brand has since expanded its ventures, taking the hotel world by storm. Each one of their hotels combine that fiery, rock’n’roll spiritwith luxury and glamour, and music is in the heart of everything they do. Concerts are often held, DJs get the dancefloors going, and guests can even have a Fender guitar brought to their room for a jam or learn how to mix their own DJ set. These hotels are just full of energy, so if you’re looking for an action-packed holiday the Hard Rock Hotels are just the place you’re looking for. These are some of my favourites!
The first Hard Rock Hotel in Asia, this place is right in the heart of all the action and is close to Kuta Beach, a real surfers’ paradise! The rooms are kitted out with LCD TVs, CD players (in case you want to bring your favourite tunes with you), a mini-bar, and of course there’s also memorabilia on the walls – it wouldn’t be Hard Rock otherwise! The hotel also has the largest freeform pool on Bali and there’s several restaurants and bars, each one with a different atmosphere. There’s lots going on with plenty of live bands and there’s even a recording studio and a radio station that broadcasts to the rest of the island! Surfing lessons and adventure tours can also be booked here. In case you need a little break from all the action, there’s a spa with a wide range of treatments on offer. Man, it’s all quite a lot to take in!
Ibiza is Hard Rock’s first hotel in Europe. Seeing as Ibiza has a thriving clubbing scene it might come off as a strange choice for a hotel bursting with guitars, glitz and old school glamour, but in actual fact the island’s vibrant atmosphere makes this hotel even more wild!Hard Rock Ibiza has all the usual features of a Hard Rock hotel, including a spa, a kids’ club, stunning pools and the Sound of your Stay scheme (the one where you can hire guitars and let your inner DJ out), but there’s another clincher – the hotel backs out directly on to the beach! In fact you’re right next to Playa D’en Bossa, probably one of the most popular places to party on the island with a whole host of clubs and bars near by.
Seeing is believing when it comes to this ‘ultimate beachfront celebrity playground’! Hard Rock Cancún is located in the heart of the glitzy hotel district and is filled to the brim with bars, restaurants and all kinds of awesome activities so you can rock out to your heart’s content. There’s a huge swimming pool spread across three levels with two bars you can swim up to and two excellent golf clubs where you can tee off while enjoying stunning views of the Caribbean. The all-inclusive experience means you can wine and dine as much as you want, though I’m sure you’ll be spoilt for choice – there’s 6 restaurants and 7 bars and lounges waiting for you, or you can have your meals and drinks brought to you room (you can take advantage of your in-room liquor dispenser while you’re at it!). As well as the spa there’s also a beauty salon and a gym. However there’s one feature of this hotel that I really love – the Music Lab! You can spin some records, shoot your own music video, play along to your favourite songs or – and here’s the best part – spend 3 hours jamming with 7 other people to form you own band and perform in front of the other guests! How awesome is that?
This one’s in a pretty unique setting – it’s located within the grounds of the Universal Studios Resort in Orlando! This means that a stay here will get you loads of benefits, including being able to skip the queues, early admission to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, priority seating when dining…the list goes on! The nightlife is vibrant and fun – as well as all the bars there’s the Velvet Sessions which are hosted on the last Thursday of the month. These sessions are intimate gigs that are held in the hotel’s lobby, which means you can get right up close to the stars! You’ll also get complimentary cocktails and a wide range of tapas to tuck into. Hard Rock Live is just around the corner as well – it’s a huge 3,000 person concert venue with plenty of acts lined up and a massive café which sprawls across several floors. Oh, and one more thing: the largest Hard Rock Café in the world is right next to it!
Where better to end our little rockstar tour than the glitziest place in the world – Hollywood! You can still rent your guitars and mix your DJ playlists here, just like in every Hard Rock hotel, but what makes this hotel really stand out is the sheer amount of stuff on offer! For starters there’s a massive casino, one of the largest in South Florida. It has over 2,000 slots and 90 table games, with a wide range of events and competitions that are organised regularly. Then you have Hard Rock Live, a massive music venue which has the capacity to seat up to 5,500 people and has hosted the likes of Eric Clapton, Bon Jovi, The Who, Aerosmith, The Killers just to name a few. Shopaholics can splash their cash at the numerous boutiques and if you want to party into the early hours there are nightclubs and an improvised comedy club. There’s just so much to list! The good thing is that you can take a break from all this wild nightlife and have a little time to yourself by renting one of the poolside cabanas or the concierge can arrange a trip to one of the four nearby golf courses.
The Hard Rock hotels really are hardcore! I’ve never seen so many hotels that offers such wild nightlife, all while keeping good music and the glamour of rock and roll at the centre of everything they do. Hard Rock owns additional hotels across the world and they’re even planning on opening some in Abu Dhabi, Goa and Tenerife. So, if you want a holiday full of energy with a touch of glamour and lots of luxury, then you’ll have a great time at the Hard Rock Hotels. Have you already stayed at one before? Tell me about your stay – I’d love to hear what you think!
