What is there to do during my stay in Cuba?

The beginning of your trip is in Havana, where you will be staring in the Miramar district. This district is absolutely beautiful and has some really incredible views out across the sea. From here it is only a 20 minute drive to Old Havana. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is an absolute must-see; especially since you’re practically there already. It is full of architectural heritage which dates back over 5 centuries, which give you a really good idea of what it was once like. This is a really lively place to be and the atmosphere is really good fun, so don your comfiest shoes and get walking to take in as much as possible!

If you’re looking for a really cool place to hang out or go for a quick drink, then the Cuba Libro might just be the place for you. It’s a really quirky bar that serves excellent drinks and is full of really interesting people, creating an ambiance that is second-to-none. This is the perfect place for you to relax after a long day of exploring!

You will then move on to Trinidad, where you will be staying just 15 minutes outside of Trinidad City, which is another UNESCO World Heritage Site and therefore another must-see! I would really recommend taking yourself on a walking tour of the city. There’s so much to see, ranging from La Parroquial Mayor church to the Museo Nacional de la Lucha Contra Bandidos (this is the bell tower that dominates the town).

Whilst you’re here, I would also recommend taking the steam train to the Valley of Sugar Mills. You will feel like you’re in a completely different country; it transports you into a different world with stunning views of the hills around you. This is a day trip, so I would recommend that you eat lunch whilst on it. I think the Old Plantation Hacienda is a really nice place for a quick bite to eat before you carry on to explore the hidden ruins of the saccharine revolution.

For the final part of your trip you will be staying on Varadero beach. This is a location that is known, primarily, for its expanse of beautiful beaches and it is hard to miss them. this is the part of your trip that I would recommend relaxing on; so you split your trip into the chaotic site-seeing for the first half and then letting yourself unwind towards the end. One of the best things to do around here is to swim to the Saturno Cave. It’s absolutely beautiful and also relatively quiet. Naturally keep an eye on the weather, you don’t want to get caught out!

There is also the Casa don Ron in the Varadero, which I would say is another must-see. You cannot go to Cuba without seeing the House of Rum. When you go they let you try all of the different types of rum, so that you have the opportunity to discover which rum you actually enjoy; apparently there’s a rum for everybody.

This is the ultimate trip to Cuba; you get to stay in three different places, meaning you see three times more of the best parts of Cuba. There is not much more that you could want from this holiday and with various different dates available, there’s nothing to stop you- live spontaneously and enjoy yourself.
