Florence – a city full of history, culture and that special Italian flair! I love this city especially because of its warm, narrow alleys and their bright cobbled stones where you can lose yourself in their windings from sunny piazza to piazza. I love taking a break from sightseeing, sitting in a lovely cafe and watching the people walk by while I sip on an espresso. But there is so much to see in Florence so it would be a pity if you just sit and relax :)
Of course most famous for its fantastic churches, the city centres the Piazza del Duomo with its church dating back to the 13th century. It is a beautiful and impressive building that you shouldn’t miss. River Arno flows through Florence and from the bridge Ponte Vecchio you’ll have a great view across the water with the city to your side. Ideal for pictures and buying souvenirs. For a relaxing walk in a park I’d recommend you to stroll through Boboli Gardens which you find in the centre. Another good excuse to have a rest in the rococo Kaffeehaus, built in 1776. I love the history of this place! Museum fans should of course go by the Galleria dell’Accademia, where they can see Michelangelo’s famous David statue.

In order to do all this I found a great hotel deal on travelbird.co.uk and a flight on bravofly.co.uk, so make your bookings separately on these pages. You get to fly out from London Stansted and land in Pisa, from there it’s just an hour and a bit by bus to get to your hotel (details below). You will stay in the Grand Hotel Adriatico, a 4 star Best Western with 82% on TripAdvisor. Spend three nights in their luxurious rooms right in the historical centre of the city. Breakfast is included and you can look forward to enjoy it on the veranda or in the garden. A guided city tour will give you a great first impression of the city, without you hassling about where to go. And my personal highlight is the wine and food tasting that Travelbird also treats you to. A cultural as well as culinary highlight! Love it!
