Love historic cities but find the likes of Venice far too overcrowded for your liking? Then allow me to introduce Annecy! This colourful little gem is hidden away in the French Alps and it is a true feast for the eyes. Pastel-coloured houses, cute canals and lovely lakeside walks are just a few of the magical experiences that await you here in this stunning corner of France.

Long Weekend in Annecy

This is a fantastic deal I’ve put together for a long weekend in the city using Expedia. You’ll have return flights to Lyon, a city that’s just over an hour away to the west. The hotel you’re staying at, the ibis Annecy Centre Vieille Ville, puts you right in the heart of the town, meaning you’re not far from the action at all.

You’ve got countless cafés, shops and restaurants just on your doorstep. You’ll only have to go two blocks down the road until you reach the canal that runs through the city. Follow it towards the east and you’ll come across the beautiful fortified house, the Palais de l’Ile. There are also lush parks by the lake where you can enjoy views out towards the mighty peaks of the Alps. A truly awe-inspiring part of the world to be in, let me tell you! :)
