Black sand beaches, a volcano you can ski on, 8,000 mummified citizens and the Mafia… what do all these have in common? Why, beautiful Sicily of course! This stunning island off the coast of southern Italy still retains its strong Sicilian identity, and its history is one of the longest and richest in the world. The bikini was invented here (I know, random right!?) as far back as the Roman times, and the dessert recipes haven’t changed once over the years – they’re just as sweet and delicious as they were 100 years ago! For those more morbid among us, I defeinitely recommend you visit Palermo’s Catacombe dei Cappuccini – where around 8,000 Sicilians are laid to rest after a rigorous embalming process – definitely something a little strange yet interesting!

Of course, you’ll need somewhere to stay whilst you do, visit and try all these crazy things.. what about this hotel I found on Trivago?

Guru-tastic tips to plan your travel

By bus:
If you like one of my hotel or spa deals and if you need a cheap way to get there or if you simply need a cheap way to catch one of the flights that I post, check out Megabus or National Express for the cheapest bus rates. Both providers offer cheap fares and run special promotions to save even more money.

By train:
Travelling by train is a great alternative to flights, so take a look at the offers through Eurostar or National Express.

By plane:
If you’re looking for the cheapest flights on your favourite dates check out my Flight Fare Finder. This tool compares all providers to each other and shows you where you can book the cheapest price for your flights.

If you would like to add some activities to your holiday, check out Expedia’s Things to do. Attractiontix is your friend, if you would like to book tickets  for a certain theme park or events or if you want to make a tour.
