Why not escape the mainland for a while and head over to County Donegal to lose yourself in the wind and the rolling landscape that seems to be never-ending. Ireland as whole has been used as the setting for many romantic novels, like P.S I love you, making it the perfect setting for you an a loved one. If you’re not feeling particularly romantic, then grab a friend and head on over to walk, drink and eat your way into a giddy state of bliss.

The Caisleain Oir Hotel has an astounding 94% rating on TripAdvisor, as well as having been awarded the Travellers’ Choice Award 2014. It is perfectly located, being only a 7 minute drive from Donegal Airport, making it really easy to get to. Click here to see the route! Upon arrival this family-run B&B makes you feel instantly welcome, helping you settle in. This B&B only charges £39 per room for a one night stay, an absolute bargain if you book this deal here on travelzoo.com! If you wanted to, there is another deal on for a two night stay. This other deal would cost you £69 for the two nights, with breakfast included in the price!

Once you’ve left your luggage at the B&B I would recommend, weather permitting, making your way to the Blue Flag beach Carrickfinn. This beach has been regarded as one of the most beautiful beaches Ireland has to offer, I don’t think they’re wrong! At the time of year you will be travelling there, it will be beautifully quiet with only the braver locals disturbing its sands.

The B&B is also located in the town of Annagry, which is a pretty, all be it small, area with not much in the way of shopping. However, the B&B doubles as a pub which is attended at weekends by locals as it is a popular place to go out to eat or enjoy a pint or two of Guinness. If you do rent a car, then an option for you could be to visit the second-largest national park in Ireland (Gleanveagh National Park). If you do this, here is a link to show you the route to get there- it’s only half an hour away. Click here!

If you are thinking about this, I would recommend looking up flights on bravofly.co.uk, they tend to have the better deals on flights! A lot of the flights appear to have a longer layover time in Dublin. If you do decide to go on this holiday, then why not spend the day visiting Dublin, having a look around Temple Bar and having a few drinks before your connecting flight goes on to Donegal in the evening. If you do want to do this, you can get the bus from Dublin airport into the city centre for £2 each way, it only takes about 15 minutes and is easy to find! Click here to see the bus route into the city!
