Cheap City Breaks from the UK
Weekend breaks vs. weekday breaks
To get the best value when booking a city break you should try to avoid travelling at the weekend. The hotel rates for Friday and Saturday nights are always much higher than during the week. So if somehow possible ask for two days off and depart on a Sunday. Then you still have one day without taking a holiday but avoid the high flight prices as well. Of course, if you only have time at the weekend, then check out my deals. I always mention in our deal headings if the break is over a weekend and I get you the cheapest possible weekend city break deals.
City breaks from London
There are endless opportunities for cheap city breaks from London. You have six airports, most of which fly to almost all European capitals direct for a really low price. You can get return flights to Cologne for as little as £14. Flights to Dublin are always super-affordable as well. If you fancy a break in France, you can grab flights to Nice for £30. You can get two-night breaks, including accommodation in cities like Prague, Berlin and Gdansk in Poland for just around the £100 mark. If you want to travel a bit further, then a four-day break to New York will only set you back £430pp!
City breaks from the North
Manchester Airport is an excellent base for travelling to the Scandi countries! If you plan it in advance, you can fly direct to Oslo in Norway for as little as £30 return, Copenhagen for £45 and Reykjavik in Iceland for just over £50.
City breaks from Scotland
If you’re departing from Scotland, then you can choose from six airports. Edinburgh Airport, the busiest in the country, will get you to a host of European, Middle Eastern and some US cities. You can secure a three-day cheap city break from Edinburgh to Brussels, Budapest and Tallinn for almost nothing!
Glasgow Airport provides international flights, so with a bit of planning, you could to Turkey and Montenegro for under £200!
City breaks from Northern Ireland
The main airport in Northern Ireland is Belfast International. There are still ample opportunities to find cheap city breaks from Northern Ireland by flying to popular cities like Venice, Amsterdam, Reykjavik and Split in Croatia for under £100.
City breaks from Wales
Cardiff Airport is a fine place to fly from if it’s a city break in a warmer region you’re after! You can get a cheap city break from Wales to Faro, Malaga and Rome. You can also fly direct to Turkey for only £90 return.
Last Minute City breaks
Especially when booking a last minute city break you can get a great deal on short notice. Sometimes the flight prices drop by a great deal and you’ll be able to snap up a super bargain. The only thing that you need to be is flexible. It could be that you are departing within the next week, but then again…it won’t get cheaper. Unlike long-distance holidays, I would definitely recommend waiting for last minute deals in this case.
