London is the biggest city in Britain and was the first city in the world having an underground railway. It is a city with a propensity for spectacular architecture. 30 St Mary Axe is the “living proof” of that, a spiral-shaped building in London’s financial district. Due to its unusual form it is also often referred to as The Gherkin.

A similarly extravagant idea the architects of Garden Bridge had in mind. A small recreational area will be built on a space of roughly 1200 feet spanning the Thames. The bridge will connect the South Bank with Temple Station and create a green oasis in the middle of the metropolis. The actual funding of the £150m bridge has not been assured yet but Garden Bridge Trust was established to promote the financing. The construction will start in 2015 and be completed in 2017. Of course I’ll keep you up to date about any progress made. After all, you should know about the opportunity to relax on the Thames during your next London city break asap!
