This is a place that you have to stay at least once in your life time! Live it up in Kenya in a Giraffe manor house where you get to have a stay accompanied by real life giraffes!
This article will get the hearts of all animal lovers amongst you racing. At the this Giraffe Manor (rated 5/5 on TripAdvisor) – a hotel where the magnificent animals steal the spotlight, you’ll be sharing your company and breakfast with them. All those who have always wanted to connect to the Kenyan fauna and flora can now make their dreams come true. Cat cafés are for novices!
In front of the gates of the capital city of Nairobi in Kenya, the Giraffe Manor opens its doors to you. This uniqueboutique hotelwas built in the 1930s and still shines in the beautiful colonial style that reminds of the times now gone. On 140 hectares of land are ten guest rooms and at least just as many giraffes. You’ll enjoy absolute privacy here, except at the breakfast table and in the garden, since it may well happen that a giant head of an endangered Rothschild giraffe appears and licks your face while you enjoy your dessert. But that’s exactly what you want from this place, right?
Let’s not forget about the other neighbours – warthogs (like Pumba) are the funniest inhabitants of the enclosure. Bushbucks, small antelopes and a multitude of birds also reside here and will make your stay unforgettable.
The rooms are gorgeous and full of luxury of the past when Europeans came to Africa. The team of the Giraffe Manor constantly endeavors to make sure you have everything you need. You can take a walk in the park, catch up on the latest gossip with the giraffes or learn more about the breed from the staff over at the adjacent rescue centre, in case the long-necked creatures haven’t introduced themselves enough already. Spa treatments are also available for some physical relaxation and there’s an opportunity to book excursions here.
The prices are often quite high and that’s why you’ll be met with first class luxury and privacy, full board included. You can find more information on the official website by the „Safari Collection“ that owns the hotel.
If you’ve enjoyed enough of close contact with the gentle giants, you can take part in an excursion to the nearby Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. It’s a place dedicated completely to the African wildlife and provides accommodation and care to all creatures in need with a special focus on the orphaned elephants and endangered rhinos. The staff put all their heart in the care of their proteges, which you can experience first hand. You’ll get an insight into the animals’ lives as well as the breeding and protection – which are a constant and hugely significant theme in Africa due to the persisting poaching – and you’ll also be able to watch the baby elephants as they try to work out their trunks. ;-)
The surrounding area of Nairobi also provides the opportunity to observe animals in the wild. Simply book one of the numerous safari tours that are offered here. Explore one of many national parks and learn more about the country from its wild side. And in the evenings, your hungry giraffe friends will already be waiting for you along with dinner.
So I’ll be off now – the Giraffe Manor is something you just can’t miss! Who’s with me?
