Have you been to Mexico before? This country, which boasts one of the world’s largest capitals, Mexico City, has a lot to offer: culture in the ruins of the Aztecs and Mayans, breathtakingly beautiful landscapes and dreamy beaches that are bound to get the hearts of every beach lover racing.

How do you recognise the most beautiful things in life? If you can’t find any words for them. That’s what happens to me, when I think about the dreamiest beaches in Mexico. But enough said… get enchanted by Mexico’s most beautiful beaches – you’ll be guaranteed some serious wanderlust!

Mexico’s dreamiest beaches

Playa del Amor | Hidden Beach | Playa Zicatela | Playa del Carmen | Playa Delfines | Akumal Beach

Playa del Amor – a beach you’ll fall in love with

This next beach I found is in San Lucas on the western peninsula of Baja California. Here, in the Gulf of California, you’ll find Playa del Amor – or Lover’s Beach. On the other side surrounded by the Pacific Ocean you’ll find Playa del Divorcio – Divorce Beach. The names aren’t just a contrast, but the beaches themselves couldn’t be any more different either! While you can go snorkelling and swimming on Playa del Amor, the waters over on the Pacific side are mostly too dangerous to swim in. As a result Playa del Divorcio is made for sunbathing. A beach surrounded by two seas at the same time is something you don’t get every day! A popular photo opportunity is the El Arco, a cliff that’s 62 metres tall and is a landmark of San Lucas.

Hidden Beach, Marietta Island – a little adventure

A very special beach awaits you on the uninhabited Marieta Island off the west coast or Mexico. The Hidden Beach, also known as the Beach of Love, was formed by a bomb. No joke! The Mexican military used to use the island for bomb tests and other military purposes, but today it’s since been transformed into a nature reserve with a unique biodiversity that’s popular amongst divers and snorkellers. You can admire everything from huge turtles, dolphins and even whales. The beach itself is found within the bomb craters and can only be reached by swimming there during low tide. The pictures speak volumes – it’s an unforgettable experience.

Playa Zicatela – surfer’s paradise

Every year thousands of surfers swarm to Puerto Escondido in the south of Mexico. No wonder – they’re enticed by the endless beaches with huge waves that are hardly visited by tourists. Here at Playa Zicatela you can ride the famous Mex Pipe, the largest wave of its kind. Swimmers should be careful though: the sea is mostly stormy here and there’ll often be large waves. Playa Zicatela is best suited for relaxing, walking and admiring, and it’s a true surfer’s paradise!

Playa del Carmen – the pearl of the Caribbean Ocean

A very famous Caribbean beach in Mexico is Playa del Carmen, south of Cancún. You’ll find the beach in the fishing village of the same name, which has transformed itself into THE tourist magnet along the Riviera Maya over the past few years. Here you’ll find everything that’ll make for the perfect holiday: luxurious hotels, excellent restaurants and a wild nightlife with plenty of bars and clubs. However the beach has retained its beauty, and many holidaymakers call it one of the most beautiful beaches in the world thanks to its white sands and clear, shallow waters. A beach that’s truly perfect!

Playa Delfines – Cancún’s tourist magnet

Playa Defines in Cancún is definitely one of the most famous in the whole of Mexico. Despite its popularity it’s one of the most beautiful beaches in the entire country, and here you’ll be able to relax on the white sands that stretch on for kilometres at a time and enjoy the fantastic views of the turquoise waters of the Caribbean. Partygoers will have heard of Cancún thanks to the legendary Spring Break parties that take place every year, where American students come to celebrate their half term. As a result this holiday resort turns into party central every year in March! Maybe it’s something you’d be interested in? You’ll be able to find some great deals on my blog if you’d like to go!

There’s great hotels for every budget in Cancún no matter what the season and you can book all kinds of tours and activities. Swimming with dolphins is a popular one for example, which is often offered in Mexico. However when booking such activities you should take the animals’ welfare into consideration, so do some research before you go to make sure you can enjoy it without a guilty conscience. Divers will also get their money’s worth here, as just off the coast is the Maya Reef, the second-largest reef in the world.

Akumal Beach – snorkelling with turtles

Akumal is particularly famous for the numerous turtles that bustle about near the beach throughout the year. It’s no surprise that the beach was named after it – Akumal means ‘place of the turtles’ in the Mayan language. Fans of these gentle sea creatures should definitely pay a visit here, and you’ll be able to admire the colourful fish as well. A paradise for every snorkeller!

Wowzers! Did you ever think that Mexico had so many amazing beaches? This country’s right on the top of my bucket list now! If you want to pay a visit yourself I’ll always have some great deals so you can spend some blissful days relaxing on these beaches. Who’s going?
