Sushisamba, London

The first location that I would like to show you is one I have just tested out for myself. The Sushisamba in Heron Tower, London, is one of the grandest restaurants that I have ever eaten in. As the name suggests, it is mainly sushi that is served here, but if you go one floor higher you’ll also find a bar. The decor is very elegant, the food is first-class but the prices are – how could it be any different in London – pretty hefty. But the biggest highlight is obviously the view from the 38th floor. From there you have the perfect view of the Gherkin, which is situated directly opposite Heron Tower. If you are in London then you should absolutely take a look, because this is really the best view of the city!

UFO, Bratislava

But it’s not just in London where you can find cool sky restaurants. An impressive restaurant with an equally impressive view is to be found in the Slovakian capital of Bratislava. UFO offers a gourmet menu and a viewing platform reachable by a lift, but you can already imagine that this doesn’t come cheap. Even for Slovakia the food here is somewhat expensive, but of course you could just enjoy the view with a drink. Either way a visit to UFO is quite an experience!

Skykitchen in Andel’s Hotel, Berlin

Skykitchen is to be found on the 12th floor of Andel’s Design Hotel, in the middle of a classy corner in Berlin. From here you have an unrestricted view of the TV Tower and the Rotes Rathaus. You have a choice of three different set menus, one of which is vegetarian. You can choose from 3 to 8 courses, but the choices are not cheap. If you want to get a little higher, you can go to the 14th floor and enjoy a few drinks in the Skybar.

Sirocco, Bangkok

On we go to the next jaw-dropping restaurant! Many of of you may well recognise this from Hangover 2 but Sirocco in the Lebua Hotel in Bangkok is one of the most impressive sky locations overall. On the 63rd floor of the hotel you will be greeted with a view that you certainly won’t forget in a hurry. The sprawling city of Bangkok lays right at your feet! If you want to eat here then you absolutely must make a reservation, otherwise it’s nigh impossible to get a table. Otherwise you can go to the 64th floor, where the Distil Bar awaits. Relax on the comfy sofas and let the view relax you.

Do&Co Hotel, Vienna

Even in Vienna you will find a great restaurant with panoramic views that will put you under its spell! The restaurant in Do&Co at Stephansplatz is one of the chic-est locations in the city, offering a great view of St. Stephan’s Cathedral. In the open-plan kitchen, heavenly delicacies like sushi or fillet of veal will be prepared for you. But just a warning – you’ll really have to dig deep in your pockets for this one. Even just a Donner kebab will set you back €26! I think I’ll just stick with a few drinks…

Asiate, New York

If there is one city where skyhigh locations are absolutely unbeatable, then it’s got to be New York. In the sprawling city where are so many great restaurants with panorama views that I didn’t know which one I should choose. In the end I went for the Asiate Restaurant on the 35th floor of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. This chic fusion restaurant offers an impressive view of Manhattan’s skyline and culinary highlights from chef Brandon Kida. Who wants to eat here??

La view, Bali

Now we come to another stunning location in the middle of a jungle in Bali. La View Restaurant in Kupu Kupu Barong might well be one of the most romantic places in the entire world. A dinner with a view of the sun setting over the never-ending jungle – what more could you want?! You can decide whether you want to eat in one of their so-called birds nests or on a normal terrace. On the menu you will find Asian specialities with a French twist. If you think that such a chic restaurant is going to be eye-wateringly expensive, then you’re mistaken! Prices are between $35 for a 3 course menu and $80 for a dinner in a birds nest – not so bad!

Torre d’Alta Mar, Barcelona

Even in my favourite city there are also one or two spectacular dinner locations! My personal favourite is the Torre d’Alta Mar which is right by the habour. From there you have an unforgettable view of the harbour, Port Vell. Mediterranean cuisine is served here, alongside Catalonian specialities. If you want to eat here then you must reserve in advance.

Tosca, Hong Kong

Hong Kong has one of the most impressive skylines in the world, so it’s no wonder that there are countless restaurants here with panoramic views. One of these is Tosca in the Ritz Carlton Hotel. As expected from the luxury Ritz Carlton hotel chain, the restaurant just oozes glamour and splendour. A classy chandelier, a small water fountain and the mirrored bar reveal that this restaurant is not exactly cheap. But the highlight is of course the wonderful view from the 109th floor.

The Signature Room at 95th, Chicago

Last but not least, I present to you the Signature Room at the 95th in Chicago! The spectacular restaurant is, as the name suggests, on the 95th floor of the John Hancock Center in Michigan Avenue. What’s on the menu? Mainly seafood and steak or Banana Tiramisu and Coconut Lime Cheesecake for dessert. Aside from that, you absolutely have to try the house cocktails: These start at $16. Oh yes… and the phenomenal view is also not to be scorned at.

What do you think of these restaurants with panoramic views? Which is your favourite?
