If there is any city where you get the best views from above, then it has to be New York! Every city has something distinctive, but New York is a cut above the rest, with its many great hotels and restaurants offering cool rooftop bars and a spectacular panorama from above!
There’s really nothing better than spending a summer evening sitting on the roof terrace of a hotel or restaurant in the Big Apple, looking out over the big city jungle. While the endless traffic streams through the streets down below, up here you can enjoy a peaceful moment admiring the New York skyline. Many roof terraces even have a pool, so nothing stands in your way of relaxing. Okay, I admit it, I’m in love – so that’s why I’d like to present to you the best rooftop bars in New York!
The Peninsula is a hotel with one of the best views of the Manhattan skyline thanks to its location right in the centre. The view from the hotel is especially impressive at night. The coolest thing is that you don’t just get the view from the rooftop bar Salon de Ning, but also from your bed or even the spa area. The design of the hotel itself is very stylish and exclusive. Here you can enjoy a drink in the evening sun or put your feet up after a hard day’s sightseeing.
230 Fifth Bar and Restaurant.
It’s not just hotels that have great viewpoints – some New York restaurants have great views to offer too. 230 Fifth is an address, but also the place to be. Here you’ll find lobster rolls, hand-cut chips and delicious burgers and you can wash it down with a coconut pineapple martini. Simply relax! At peak times it can get extremely busy here, but the friendly staff don’t let their stress show – they probably know nothing else! I can totally understand why it gets so full here – the view of the skyline is unparalleled. As you can see from the pictures, sometimes muscular men give out free hugs… what more could you want?
Gallow Green in McKitterick Hotel
There still are a few really secret tips left out there. The Gallow Green Rooftop Bar in the McKitterick Hotel offers a true garden atmosphere, a cosy atmosphere and is less full than many other roof terraces in Manhattan. In the aspiring Chelsea neighbourhood, just one block away from Chelsea Park, you can enjoy cocktails here or even join an urban gardening course. On weekends there is a brunch buffet. This is a great place for you if you are fed up of overly stylish, overly full bars.
Dream Downtown & PHD Rooftop Lounge at Dream Downtown
One of the trendiest and best hotels in the whole of New York is Dream Downtown. But not only that…within the hotel you’ll find one of the most happening rooftop bars in New York. Whether you’re here for partying, having a drink in the evening or, like many locals, watching the sun go down in THE place to be, you can do it all here. This is definitely one of the best places to drink and dance the night away. The people are cool, chilled and stylish – typical New York! But the pictures say more than a thousand words…
Gansevoort Park Avenue Hotel
The Gansevoort Hotel is a very hip and modern hotel with a pool on the roof! You shouldn’t be surprised if a celebrity face walks past you here, because the hotel and rooftop bar are favourites in the celeb world. The luxurious furnishings, the pool and the coolest parties on the roof speak for themselves. The rooftop bar stretches over two floors, on one floor you’ll find the lounge and the roof terrace with pool right on top.
Yotel Times Square
Located right on Times Square with a brilliant view and modern design is Yotel designer hotel. It’s one of the most popular hotels in New York, but also one of the cheapest that features in this article. Not to let you down, it also features a rooftop bar, offering excellent views across the New York city skyline.
Just looking at these pictures is making me want to go back to New York again! What about you? What do you think of these rooftop bars? Do you have a favourite? Perhaps you have also been to a few yourself and can recommend them to us?
